BDSM as a transcendental experience

Western society is in my opinion, somewhat poisoned when it comes to its understanding of the soul and spirit – especially when it comes to the human experience. Hence why I’m drawn to eastern philosophy and cultures to draw inspiration and knowledge of the true nature of self and existence. ‘Maya’ or illusion, is that we do not experience the environment itself, but rather a projection of it created by thoughts. Of course, your thoughts let you experience the physical world in a certain way, but our inner calmness and composure need not be dependent on external factors. In the western world, thoughts are believed to be ‘above’ our senses and in the instead in the ancient Vedic system, thought is considered to be a sense. Thoughts are received simultaneously as sensations are experienced on the body. They arise from the same vibratory source. Thinking is simply a tool. One of six senses but we in the west have elevated it to such a high status that we identify ourselves with our thoughts. The fact that we do not identify thinking as one of the six senses is very significant. We are so immersed in thought that trying to explain thought as a sense is like telling a fish about water. This is where BDSM play comes in for me – a way to bring all the SIX senses into alignment, to not identify with any particular one of them (especially thought) and to immerse myself deep within a flow-state.

Sub-space and Dom-space has been liked to a spiritual experience.. and this has certainly been my experience of it (dom-space) when the connection and the flow-state is there between my play partner(s) and I. BDSM offers us a way (this being said.. its not the only way) to explore the full potential of sexual energy and at its best, BDSM can serve as a kind of lay ministry – breaking down the barrier between sex and spirit that our culture at large still struggles to overcome. At the base of the human experience, there is the ultimate desire.. the desire to connect with source consciousness. If a person isn’t awake to this drive.. that’s a different story all together.. but for the ones who are its the greatest path ever laid out in front of them. Play is my path.. through this sustained attention at the root level of consciousness thought play, the wiring for an entirely different perception of reality is created. We have got it backward most of the time as we constantly let ideas about the outer world shape our neural networks, but our inner ‘space’ (sub or dom) need not be reliant upon external happenings outside of play. Circumstances don’t matter – only our state of consciousness matters.

We’re not trying to become something else – we’re okay with what is. I lead my play partner down the path to rise above the suffering of the physical realm and to totally embrace it. To say yes to it…so it becomes something within them and I experience it through them – to crave the pain as I crave to administer it. We push for a total revolution in consciousness.. a radical shift in orientation from the outer world to the inner. It is not a revolution brought about by will or effort alone. But also by surrender.. and acceptance of reality as it is.

BDSM is my transcendental experience that fuses all the senses into one – including thought. It’s an avenue to accept our reality exactly as it is – as it ACTUALLY is… where we experience it at the root level of sensation, at the vibratory or energetic level without the prejudice or influence of predominantly the identification to our thoughts.
